Don’t buy it stay away from cars that have rebuilt tittle!!! This means that the car wash in a serious accident and it was totaled but the mechanics decided to rebuilt it and sell it for higher price then selling it to junk yard!!!
Also stay have from cars that have salvage tittle its basically the sane thing!!! My first car i didnt know anthing i bought a car with salvage tittle didnt evev knew what it meant but i was tricked into buying that and it was a pain in the ass it cost me more to fix the damn car than what i paided for it!!! So take my advice or unless u know some mechanic that you trust to check the car out for u b4 buying it !!!!Buy any car that have clean tittle !!
Good luck!!!
well as youve found, there are many reasons a car has a salvage or rebuilt title.theft is one, impound is another.buying as a parts car in some states will also earn that title.
most of those are not a problem,in fact i dont even have a problem buying a totaled rebuild.
remember this.you will never have the same value of the comparable vehicle.you cannot get anything but pl/pd insurance(to my knowledge).insurance will always lowball it because of the title as will other buyers.
salvaged vehicles are generally fine as long as you keep these things in mind.
Have a mechanic look over the car before you buy. If the owner won’t let you have it looked at then you know they are hiding something. A good mechanic will find any issues.
Some rebuilt/salvage titles can be issued to a theft when the insurance pays out for a stolen car, then later the car is found the insurance still totals the car. The car may be completely fine.
Have it looked at. You may find a great deal.
You need to ask the DMV if you will ever be able to get a clean title for the car. That rebuilt status should make a big difference in the selling price. It should be half of what the good condition car would be.
If the car is cheap enough it’s worth the risky title.
Since the car has a “rebuilt” title you will not be able to clear this and get a clean title.
Also, the fact that the title is tagged “rebuilt” MAY NOT mean it has been wrecked or totaled. Could be, but not a given. Get a CarFax report on the car and see what it says. And, if the CarFax shows which business reported the damage, call them up and ask them for details.
Then, if you are still interested, have a mechanic look the car over so you get an idea of it’s current condition. A used car inspection might cost you $100, but going without one could cost you thousands.
Cars with clouded titles like this one can sometimes be good buys. Just go in with your eyes wide open, knowing what you are getting.
The reason cars like this can sometimes be good buys is that the seller has to severely discount the price of the car to get anyone to take it. So, you can potentially save thousands of dollars on the price.
Now…. the flip side of this is that you will get similarly hosed when you go to sell or trade the car later. The next buyer will want the same kind of big discount that you got.
If you plan on keeping the car for a LONG time and basically driving it until it grows old and dies a natural death, it could be a good deal. But, if you are thinking you would like to keep the car for a while and then sell or trade it, not a good idea to buy this one. Just really depends on what your plans are for the car.
Acura & Honda are two of Consumer Reports highest ranking vehicles in reliablity.
Since you’r uninformed about this murky area of used car sales, be sure you’l well informed before spending much $.
I would you two services similar to Carfax in addition to CF, bc it settled a class action suit in 2007 bc of its inaccuracies.
I’d get 2nd opinion on mechanical inspection, too.
Check if insurance co’s in your state will insure it, and see if the state requires special inspection of Rebuilt cars. Failure = no registration.
A rebuilt title is when a car has been in a major wreck and deemed totaled buy the insurance company. From there a body shop buys the car, fixes it and then resells the car with the rebuilt title. Typically you should stay away from these cars; however if it’s an older car try and find out what was all done. I have seen situations where the airbags were stolen from cars and the insurance company totals the car because to replace all the air bags would cost more than the car is worth. I would say it’s a bad idea to buy that car if you cannot find out the details of what was done. http://whybuyfromed.blogspot.com/
