“The feel of the wheel makes the deal.” It means to get the customer behind the steering wheel on a test drive and you will have a better chance of closing the customer. The reason for such success on closing a customer after test driving a new car is due to the enhanced mental state that the customer is in.
Before purchasing your next car check for hidden costs, add-on fees, and other charges. You could end up spending thousands of dollars over the lifetime of your loan.
1. When you take a test drive in a new car, all of your senses and emotions kick in. You sense that new car smell. You feel the new leather on your body. You see the new dashboard and unfamiliar look. Your heart races as the excitement from pressing the throttle of a new car exhilarates you. You are in a state where your positive feelings are shown all over your face. Salesmen are trained to notice these changes in behavior. So, as a new car buying tip, it is important that you keep your emotions in check. It is also important that you take some time to bring yourself out of that enhanced state of emotion prior to negotiating a deal.
2. Dealers lose money all the time…get over it. Most ad units are losers for the dealer. They exist to leave the impression that the dealer is ultra competitive and eager to slash prices. The ad units look like a great deal because they are! Secretly, dealers hope your salesman will switch you to a different vehicle-one that shows a profit.
3. Dealers have already conceded defeat on the Front End, you just don’t know it. There are two types of vehicles that dealers sell. One is the vehicle that everyone wants-the latest, greatest, big demand, stand-in-line-to-get-it car, truck, SUV or crossover. Then there’s the other 95% of the vehicles out there for which supply greatly exceeds demand. So, unless you are looking at a break-through product, dealers concede that they need to be close to invoice, if not under, in order to get your business. In fact, selling at invoice, much of the time, is considered a victory. In any case, emphasis is shifted to the back end of the deal.
4. If you are planning to buy a used car, it is very important to check the trust level of the dealers as some dealers have the tendency to trick you with a used vehicle that has been in a wreck or suffered poor maintenance or rough treatment throughout its lifetime. You must take the vehicle for a thorough checking by a mechanic you trust before you go for it.
5. Most buyers look at financing, financial products and after-sale products as accommodations to the sale, rather than profit potential for the dealership. Dealers make money on financing! Yes, they make money on the sale of Extended Service Plans and other insurance related products, as well as making money on navigation and entertainment systems, bed liners, nerf bars, rims and whatever else you want on your vehicle. Dealers are no different from the restaurant that will run a special on their main course, then make it up on the appetizers, drinks, desserts, etc, that you purchase with your bargain meal.
What you do not want to do is to impulsively buy a car. New cars are one of the only products that you cannot return because you “don’t like it.” When you are in an excited state, it is easy to miss some things you don’t like when you are being sold on the things you do like. Take the time and you will spend less money and make sure you get the car that you want.

Do Hybrid Cars Really Save Money?

There seems to be no stopping the oil companies, as the price at the pumps continues to rise to astronomical heights for a myriad of reasons, valid or not. Civil wars in Nigeria, international conflicts in Iraq, hurricanes and other storms at home and abroad are all reasons gas companies posit to defend their outrageous gouging.
In the face of rising gas costs, many consumers are beginning to consider the option of a hybrid vehicle- one which operates on both gas and electricity. All of the models of hybrid car will save money in terms of gas expenditures, but are they really effective when all of the costs of maintenance and other considerations are factored in?
Right off the bat, consider the cost of buying a hybrid vehicle. Depending on the model, hybrid vehicles can cost anywhere from ,000 to ,000 more than the equivalent non-hybrid model. These prices need to be stacked up against the savings that a hybrid car owner would gain in gas, factoring in the mileage needed. One report by Edmunds, for example, shows that huge price increases in the cost of gas would need to take place, or the vehicle owner would need to put on some serious mileage, in order for the hybrid models to gain a sufficient price saving advantage when stacked up against initial purchases. The one exception in the study was the Toyota Prius, which compared very effectively in terms of initial cost with the Camry model. The consumer watchdog points out, however, that as the hybrid cars become increasingly more available as a reflection of demand the prices can be expected to drop, making them more cost effective when it comes to an initial investment.
Also important to keep in mind is the fact that the hybrid cars have a much more specialized system than the standard vehicle, and will therefore require a more specialized mechanic when it comes time for any repairs. Most consumer report features consider hybrid cars to require an investment of at least five years in order to break even as far as initial costs go, and do not take into account the possibilities of damage that requires fixing to the power train of the vehicles.
It seems as though, at least for the time being, the purchase of a hybrid vehicle for the average consumer may not be the best option when it comes to saving money. It is important to keep several things in mind, however, when considering purchasing a hybrid model. Many consumers are choosing to purchase these cars because they represent a significant development in terms of environmental concerns over standard models. They also mean that as a whole, Western nations will become less dependent on oil as the sole means of power.
Finally, it is imperative to keep in mind that the hybrid car is a very new technology. Developed only within the last few years, the technology is still in the infant stages, where costs will continue to be high. Hybrid cars also have only a small percentage of the market right now as well. As time passes, the development of the hybrid technology will begin to push prices down to the point where hybrids are more than competitive with the traditionally fueled models of the past.

Second hand car industry made a lump sum amount in the previous years when economic crisis struck in the country. They are many people who are used car dealers have made great money in the recession periods if you go back in the history. A new car will cost you a lot besides the extra charges of service and other normal fees regarding maintenance of your car. Now a person with not a great income buys a new car will have to spend a lot behind servicing either by the dealer or a good mechanic. Such people can’t afford the maintenance cost of a new luxury car so they often opt for a much cheaper second hand car which is more affordable for a normal person.
The main and regular task such as changing the oil and the plugs are very simple in old used cars. You can also find a Haynes manual for almost every single car available in the market which will guide you to the easy and simple tasks step by step.
Now when you have decided to go for a used car try to build you proper budget about how much you are going to spend for a used second hand car. It is one decision which you are the best person to make. If researched well you can easily find a used car at a very cheaper rate in the market. But if you are ready to pay a bit more for a good condition used car try to consult a dealer in your area. You can easily find used car dealers at online used car listing websites.
The next thing you should consider when going for an used car is to check the availabilities of parts and their pricing. In general, French car accessories and parts are much expensive and the reliability is only average whereas in my opinion German Cars are good in terms of their accessories and parts as they are cheaper than its French counter parts. From what I have experienced German cars are more reliable than French cars.
One can also go for any Japanese model like Toyota or Nissan if they are looking for reliability. Though their parts and accessories are not cheap but they are more durable in terms of quality and Japanese standards. For people on a very tight budget, could go for Ford cars which are good as well as cheaper cars in the market. Their parts and accessories are also very cheap and affordable.
People going for used cars often get cheated by the dealers or owners so its advisable to take your friend or a mechanic who is well aware of cars mechanically to view the car you are thinking to buy. They are the best people who can spot any faults or defects in the car better than us. If you go for a used car through online websites there are many used car listing websites available on the web which provide inspection facilities by experts when the cars are listed for sale. Thus it will make the job of the car buyer a much easier one.
Though how much experts these people may be they are not able to predict the future so be prepared for if things go wrong somehow. The best way to research or find Second Hand Cars for Sale is going online. They are lots of websites available out there which will guide you through different model, brand, make or year used cars.

Whether it is a rouge baseball, golf ball size hail, or you were one of the five million crashes occurring in the United States (according to statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration), it is a given that most people will visit an auto body shop at some point in their lives.
But while choosing a doctor for your runny nose might be simple, how do you choose the right auto body shop that will not only fix but also protect the value on the four-wheeled love of your life.
After an accident or damage has occurred, sometimes the insurance claims representative will suggest specific auto body shops. But remember, these are auto body shops the insurance company typically works with and you deserve the final say on who repairs the vehicle you have invested time and money into.
Looking for an auto body shop can be a hard process. But talking to friends, relatives, business associates, and even the dealer where you purchased the vehicle can make this process easier.
Another step is to check out auto body shops online. Look for online reviews about the body shop to see what strangers or other businesses have said. These reviews may ease the burden on your mind and narrow down your choices. Often, if the auto body shop has a website, they will also list pictures and information on their work quality.
Try to stick with companies that have an established business and proof of their work. If they have proof they have fixed hail damage, scratches caused by keys or doors, scuffs or paint chipping, they will most likely be able to do it again.
The next step is to make an appointment and take your vehicle to the auto body shop for an estimate. With this visit, get a feel for how they do business, especially their attention to detail. There are some important key questions you can ask to determine if you want them repair your damaged vehicle.
- What is your experience? – How long have your been repairing vehicles? – Do you have examples of prior work? – Do you have any customers I can call about your work? – Have you had any complaints with the Better Business Bureau or your county’s consumer affairs office? – Do you have a guarantee on your work? – And, do you have any advanced techniques?
As far as advanced techniques, there are some alternative auto body shops that have selected a “greener” restoration process that includes paintless dent removal or PDR. Auto body shops offering paintless dent removal have the advanced tools that:
- Saves the environment by avoiding painting a large section – Retains the resale of your vehicle by minimizing or eliminating body filler – Reduces the time to repair
These shops provide way and means to fix a wide variety of damage without sanding or abrasive methods including:
- Hail damage – Small dents – Scratches – Creases – Scuffs
When your vehicle can receive the care and attention to repair needed without replacing or even disturbing the clear coat or manufactures paint job, you will get your money’s worth in the repair and resale value.
When you pick up your car following the repair, thoroughly check it from top to bottom to ensure the work was completed as promised. Check everything out to make sure it looks, feels, and works the way it was designed.
Repairs and wrecks can be a stressful time on any vehicle owner. But with the right repair shop, you and your vehicle can be restored to driving shape in a timely fashion with outstanding results.
